the zine and the town in question

Frazno! is a zine about the Central Valley town, Fresno. It is a real account for a fictional place. Through a pastiche of photographs, collages, poetry, prose, recipes, and other miscellaneous writings, the author, Indigo Terán, creates an image of Fresno that is an island which would not exist without the rest of California.
Each issue explores the connection between the author and the town. Imagine finding an old magazine in your grandparents’ house and that magazine is filled with your childhood truths, exaggerations, and memories. Birds and movies that your teacher might say are not real serve to highlight the environment, people, hopes, and fears of an often underestimated town. Some people may say it’s not real. But Indigo observed it, wrote and illustrated it, then printed it. Between the pages of Frazno!, all of these nothings are real.
A million stories a million fresnos
Fresno is a place of miracles and a million stories only because of the people who produce those miracles and the artists who give those stories life. Without the imagination of a few brave and tired people nothing would go on in Fresno. I am not sure I am brave but I am tired and in a way this makes me an artist. You will never get a straightforward answer from me and you should resign yourself that this is what makes me an artist too.
