There is a lot of seaside imagery in my zine. This is because the sea is one of the places I grew up by. For a brief stint of time, I lived as a child in three seaside towns which I will refrain from naming here. My grandfather moved us around from job to job, and I was lucky enough to spend my childhood exploring tidepoools, picking up rocks and seashells on the beach. When we moved back to Fresno, it was near the Great Fresno Lake. While I missed the sea terribly, I learned to [love] the town I was born in. The GFL is my tether between Fresno and the Pacific Ocean, whom I consider as a lifelong friend and companion. It’s my hope that my love for the sea has permeated everything else in my life. In my writing I aim to show the ocean’s love, not that it’s a difficult thing to do.
